Pretreatment of the base
- The surface must be clean, undamaged, dust-free, and level, and the slabs must be firmly attached to the base.
Mixing
- Refer to the bag for how much water the plaster requires.
- Mix into a consistent mass with a power mixer or a drill paddle for around one to two minutes.
- Allow the plaster to stand for around ten minutes, and then mix again for a short while and find the right consistency by adding the rest of the water; adding all of the water right at the start is not recommended.
Grouting
- Check that the tiling mortar does not extend over the centre line of the tile seams. If necessary, remove excess mortar with a suitable method.
- Spread the grout obliquely over the seams with a rubber trowel, pressing down hard enough to fill the seams. Depending on the conditions, allow the seams to dry for 20 to 40 minutes, after which you can clean the tiles with a moist sponge.
- Avoid excessive use of water so as not to flush away the dye in the seam and the grout itself.
- During cleaning, shape the seams, fill them, and compact them to the desired appearance using, for example, a wooden stick or rubber trowel.
- Once the tile surfaces have dried, use a dry rag to perform final cleaning.
- The working temperature must be above +10°C.
- You may not start grouting the floor until at least one to three days and the wall until at least one to two days after the tiling.
- We recommend protecting unglazed tiles with tile protectors before grouting.
Aftercare
- The joints must be wetted with clean water two or three times during the first day. This prevents the joints from drying too quickly, eliminating shrinkage cracking and achieving a tight joint.
- The drying temperature of the tiling should be above + 10°C.
- Underfloor heating should not be switched on during the drying period of the plaster.
