Priming of concrete surfaces
Remove any poorly attached and flaking coatings and paints from concrete surfaces, for example by water sand blasting. Remove damaged concrete by chiselling, water sand blasting or milling, depending on the type and extent of the damage. Shape the cavities and clean any rusted reinforcement bars to grade St 2 or replace them with new ones. Apply Fescon Adhesive Plaster on the rebars and repair holes with Fescon Repairing Plaster. If necessary, overlay the repaired surfaces with Fescon Overlaying Plaster. Roughen the new concrete surfaces and clean them of cement paste, for example by water sand washing or steel brushing. The surface treatments can also be carried out during the element manufacturing. New concrete surfaces can be painted after a minimum of one heating season.
Priming of plaster surfaces
Remove old poorly attached and flaking coatings and paints from plastering surfaces. Remove plaster layers that have become separated from their base until you reach an undamaged plaster layer. Apply repair plaster in three or two layers or as surface plastering depending on the depth of the damage. Shape the structure of the surface plastering to match the original plaster surface. Take the composition of the old plasters into consideration while working. Allow places with deep plaster and new plaster surfaces to dry for 4-8 weeks before painting, depending on the conditions. When pretreating and painting bases containing asbestos, you must take the protective measures prescribed in the decisions of the government and the National Board of Labour Protection.
Mixing
Mix the coating before application
Test coating
Before beginning work, carry out a test coating to ensure the correct tint.
Priming
Prime with Fescon Silicone Resin Primer MC.
Coating
Apply the plaster to the wall, covering the entire surface, using a stainless steel trowel. Float immediately using a plastic trowel or a PU float using circular motions. You can also apply the product with a sprayer (nozzle size 6-8 mm) and leave the sprayed plaster untouched. The base must be dry. In order to avoid working seams, apply the coating to continuous façade surfaces using the wet on wet principle at the same time using the same product batch. If you must switch to a new batch, you must mix the old and new batches together. Thin if necessary with max. 2% water in order to improve workability.
During coating and drying, the air temperature must be at least +5°C and the relative humidity no more than 80%. If the product has been stored at a low temperature, the product must be temporarily stored at a temperature of around +20°C before working. Do not work with the product in direct sunlight or in high winds. Clean tools with water.
After treatment
The fresh coating must be protected from too rapid drying, frost and rain during the work and until it has dried entirely.
Service instructions
A dirty surface can be cleaned with a pressure washer. Remove any damaged spots and repair the holes. Repaint with Fescon Silicone Resin Paint. One treatment is sufficient for a cleaned, undamaged surface. Priming with thinned Silicone Resin Paint is also needed for damaged areas from where the paint has been removed or holes have been patched.
