Product description

FescoStone is jointing sand for paving. FescoStone is made of natural sand and binders. FescoStone prevents weeds from growing, does not wash away with rain, and reduces the needs for maintaining the gaps between paving stones. Once the product has hardened, it still allows water to permeate through it, and it is suitable for seams of less than 5 mm. Recommended for grey concrete stones.

  • Water-permeable
  • Does not wash away with rain
  • Suitable for joints less than 5 mm

Base
  • Both the paving stones and the outside temperature +10 °C to +25 °C
  • The paving stones are clean and dry
  • The paving stones have been laid in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer
  • The paving stones must be prevented from shifting
  • The edges of the paving are supported by kerb stones or concrete
Spreading the sand
  • Sweep sand into joints or spread it with a trowel.
  • Compact sand into joints using a plate compactor to make sure that the joints are completely filled.
  • Check with the manufacturer that the paving stones can withstand the vibration of the plate compactor
  • The joints must be filled with FescoStone for the product properties to last.
  • Add sand into the sunken joints and sweep the surface to make sure that it is free of any excess sand.
  • Sweep at a 45-degree angle for the joints to fill evenly.
  • Wash off all excess product with a pressure washer. Be careful with the water pressure, and spray the water diagonally so that the sand does not wash away from the joints.
  • Only use a small amount of water to prevent the binder in the grout from separating from the aggregate. In addition to this, use a brush to remove the binder from the surface of the stones.
  • Use only clean water to wash, not detergents.
  • Wash thoroughly, any remnants can colour the paving stones grey.
  • After the wash, the temperature must be above +10 °C for the product to harden.
  • Plan your work so that the joints will have at least two days to dry before rainwater starts to strain the joints.
  • Rewash the surface 2 to 3 days after the first wash, if there is still any binder left on the paving stones.
  • To ensure that the product keeps its weed-resistant qualities, check once a year that there is enough FescoStone in the joints.
  • The maintenance interval is 2 to 3 years depending on the local conditions.

Instructions for repairing old paving joints

  • Remove the old jointing sand from the entire depth of the paving joints.
  • Make a fresh jointing according to the application and washing instructions described above.
  • To ensure that the product keeps its weed-resistant qualities, check once a year that there is enough FescoStone in the joints.
  • Add FescoStone where needed to make sure that the joints are full.
  • The maintenance interval is 2 to 3 years depending on the local conditions.
