Product description

Fescotop F45K is a corundum aggregate, cement-based dry-shake floor hardener made in Finland for application on fresh concrete surfaces. Wear resistance class A6. Suitable for use in heavy duty applications.

Fescotop floor hardener forms a tread on the surface of the concrete floor to improve durability and tightness. The floor surface will be dust-free and very easy to maintain. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

  • Wear resistance class A6
  • Material usage 3 - 8 kg/m2
  • Maximum grain size 3 mm
  • Increases the wear and shock resistance of the floor
  • Improves the chemical resistance of the floor against oils and greases

Stock products: concrete grey (natural) and bright grey. On request: dark grey, black grey. Special colours can be tinted for each project. Minimum production run 3 pallets.

Applications

  • Industrial facilities
  • Logistics warehouses
  • Loading docks
  • Parking garages

Base

Application

  • The workspace must be protected from strong wind, sunlight and rain.
  • Before applying the hardener, the concrete should be rubbed open to ensure that the concrete surface has sufficient moisture for the dry-shake to adhere.
  • After rubbing, apply the dry-shake either manually or mechanically to the concrete surface in as even a layer as possible. If the application is carried out mechanically, the entire quantity is applied in one go.
  • If the amount to be applied by hand is about 6 kg/m2 or more, two applications are recommended.
  • Before rubbing, the dry-shake should be thoroughly moistened with water.
  • The rubbing of the dry-shake is first done with a low-speed machine. The continue rubbing until the dry-shake forms a plastic layer on top of the concrete.
  • The finishing of the hardened floor, i.e. the shining, is started with a low-speed rubbing machine, with the levelling wings flat. Final finishing, shining, is done later on with the same machine, but at a higher speed.
  • Wash the tools immediately with water after the work is completed.

Curing

  • The dry-shake floor is refinished immediately after the last round of shining with Fesco's curing compound.
  • Curing can be continued with water spraying or by placing a plastic film, a filter cloth on the floor, or with a combination of both.
  • The duration of the curing is estimated by the flooring contractor together with the customer. The duration is affected by the type of concrete used, the conditions and the requirements of the site. As a general rule, curing should be continued for at least 7 to 14 days.

Other considerations

  • If the air content of the concrete is high and the effective water-binder ratio is low, the adhesion of the dry-shake coating may be poor. When using a dry-shake coating in a frost-resistant structure, the amount of air in the concrete can be limited to a maximum of 3%. The frost resistance of the concrete used must be demonstrated with preliminary tests. (reference: By 68 Concrete selection and service life design – A guide for designers 2024, page 79).

Covering

  • The product does not need to be coated.
  • Can be polished and used as a so-called design surface.
