Substrate
The mineral substrate must be even, clean, load-bearing and suitable for bonding the boards. Old paint, salts, bitumen coatings, etc. must be removed. If necessary, the substrate can be pretreated with Fescon Silicate primer to equalise absorption. The substrate must be moistened (to a matte-damp condition) before installing the boards. Any damage or water leaks in the substrate must be repaired before the installation of the silicate boards.
Board handling and installation
The Fescon Silicate Board SKL can be cut with a handsaw and shaped using standard woodworking tools. Before installation, any unevenness in the substrate must be levelled with a suitable mortar, such as Fescon Socle and adjusting plaster SOL, Indoor lime-cement plaster SR 7, or Repair concrete RKB
The boards are installed in a brick bond pattern and fixed to the substrate using Fescon Adhesive and surface render. The adhesive coverage must be 100%, which is ensured by applying the mortar both to the substrate and to the back of the board.
Install the boards so that the red-coloured side faces outwards.
Finishing
The boards are levelled with Fescon Adhesive and surface render., reinforced with Fescon Fibreglass mesh. After the finishing coat has dried, the surface is painted with Fescon Interior silicate paint.
