Base requirements and coating conditions
The concrete strength class must be at least C25/30 with a wear resistance class of 3. The relative humidity of the concrete must be below 95%, and the surface temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point. During application and curing, the temperature of the air, surface, and coating must remain above +15°C, and the relative humidity of the air must be below 80%.
New concrete floor
Cement laitance and any uncured cement must be removed by surface grinding or shot blasting. All loose and adhesion-reducing material must be removed, and the surface must be thoroughly vacuumed to remove all cement dust.
Old concrete floor
Cement laitance and deteriorated concrete must be removed by grinding, shot blasting or milling. All loose and adhesion-reducing material must be removed, and the surface must be thoroughly vacuumed. Dirty floors should be washed and rinsed with a synthetic detergent before any further surface preparation. Any existing old paint film must be completely removed from the substrate.
Anchor grooves
Anchor grooves must be made in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. They shall be installed along the edges of the area to be coated and around penetrations as well as columns or posts. The depth and width of the anchor groove should be twice the thickness of the coating.
Priming
Priming is carried out using Nanten ColorPur Primer. The primer must seal all pores in the concrete to form a dense and continuous, unbroken film on the surface. If necessary, adhesion sand is broadcast onto the primer to improve the workability of the coating.
Mixing
Liquid components A and B are poured into the mixing bucket and mixed mechanically for 30 seconds. Ensure the containers are completely emptied before mixing. Add the pigment. Once the liquid resin mixture is uniform, add half of component C and mix for approximately 1 minute until the mixture is homogeneous. Make sure the first half of component C is fully blended with the resin. Then repeat the process by adding the remaining half of component C. Mixing time may vary slightly depending on the ambient and material temperatures. Once the mixture is smooth and free of lumps, immediately bring the material to the application area.
Notes
The components must be mixed mechanically. The ideal ambient and installation temperature range is between +12°C and +25°C. It is important to take the dew point into account to prevent moisture formation in the primer. The installation instructions must be read carefully before coating.
Application instructions
Apply the coating to the desired thickness using, for example, a notched trowel, and finish the surface with a spiked roller.
To achieve a textured surface, broadcast quartz sand onto the wet coating. The grain size of the sand determines the slip resistance class. Once the coating has cured, remove the excess quartz sand by brushing and/or vacuuming. Nanten ColorPUR Topcoat is applied (0.6–0.8 kg/m²) with a rubber trowel and finished with a roller.
